The following ways of giving will not only have a tremendous impact on Norte and our community but will also provide you with tax benefits.
IRA
For anyone over the age of 70 ½, making a Qualified Charitable Distribution (QCD) from their IRA provides a way to make a tax and penalty-free donation. The funds must go directly from the IRA to the charity. A maximum of $105,000 per year can be distributed using QCDs and treated as the donor’s ‘required minimum distribution’ for the calendar year.
To complete a qualified charitable distribution (QCD) from an IRA to Norte Youth Cycling, submit a distribution form to the IRA custodian, requesting that the check be made payable directly to Norte Youth Cycling. Gifts can also be made through wire transfer or ACH.
DAFs
A donor advised fund, or DAF, is like a charitable investment account that is set up for the sole purpose of supporting charities. Individuals can contribute cash, stocks, or other assets into the DAF and receive an immediate tax deduction. By opening a fund, you receive a tax deduction, the funds can be invested for tax-free growth, and is a great way to organize your charitable giving.
Stocks, Securities, & Mutual Funds
Giving appreciated assets such as stocks, securities, and mutual funds can help you avoid capital gains taxes and give you an income tax deduction for the full value of the gift.
